How to Authenticate a Coach Bag | 5-Step Guide
Share
✦ Step 1: Logo & Design
The “C” logo should be symmetrically centered within the bag. If there are seam lines, the C patterns must be aligned along the seam. The double-C patterns appear both horizontally and vertically in aligned columns. They should never appear as a single column or be slanted. Due to dense weaving, authentic Coach fabric has vibrant colors, while fakes may look darker from poor stitching. The edges of the horizontal and vertical Cs are also interconnected.
✦ Step 2: Creed Patch
The serial number is stitched in the center of the creed patch. Small items like wallets, wristlets, or mini bags may not have a serial number. On authentic bags, this number is engraved—not printed. The serial starts with "No." followed by at least seven characters. The first character indicates the production month, followed by the year, location code, and a unique bag style code.

✦ Step 3: Zipper & Hardware
Inspect the metal zipper pull. Genuine Coach bags often use YKK zippers, which will be engraved accordingly. Some bags may not use YKK but should zip smoothly with solid construction. Try zipping the bag several times to check the quality.

✦ Step 4: Manufacture Tag
All Coach bags should include a manufacture tag, usually showing countries like Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia, China, or India. If the label says "Made in USA," "France," or "Italy," it is most likely a counterfeit.

✦ Step 5: Lining & Interior
Authentic Coach bags typically feature a solid-color satin lining. If the exterior doesn’t have a CC print, it might appear inside, but never both. Coach never places CC logos on both the interior and exterior simultaneously.

💡 Final Tips
Authentication isn’t based on one feature alone. Consider all aspects—material, stitching, hardware, and logo placement. When in doubt, consult a trusted reseller or professional.
