How to authenticate a Furla bag – 6 things to check

How to Authenticate a Furla Bag | 6 Things to Check

Furla is all about clean Italian design and soft, everyday leather, which is why styles like the Primula and Metropolis are so popular. Before you buy, here are six things worth checking.

✦ Step 1: Logo Lettering

The FURLA lettering should be neat, centred and evenly spaced, whether it's embossed, printed or in metal. Smudged, off-centre or uneven letters are a warning sign.

✦ Step 2: Hardware

Zips, buckles and logo hardware should feel solid and work smoothly, and are usually engraved with the brand name. Light, squeaky or unbranded metal? Red flag.

✦ Step 3: Interior Tag

A genuine Furla has a neat, well-sewn interior label, and some newer models also carry a code tag.

Good to know: Furla is an Italian brand, but its bags are made both in Italy and in other countries such as China, depending on the line. So “Made in China” doesn't mean fake. Focus on whether the tag is clean and well printed instead. A missing, blurry or badly sewn tag is the real concern.

✦ Step 4: Leather

Furla leather should feel soft, smooth and even in colour. Stiff, plastic-like or overly shiny material is a common sign of a fake.

✦ Step 5: Stitching

Stitches should be straight and evenly spaced, especially around the handles and edges. Crooked or loose stitching suggests poor quality control.

✦ Step 6: Dust Bag

New Furla bags usually come with a branded dust bag made from sturdy fabric with neat stitching. A flimsy or missing dust bag is another clue, though on its own it doesn't prove a bag is fake.
